1. I am a member and have been for 20 years. You have everything wrong. First of all President Nelson was not the President of the church when this happened. Jason Mow is no longer a member. Chad has been excommunicated for teaching false doctrine so has the author of Visions of Glory. I can assure you that polygamy is not practiced and if it were the person's would be excommunicated. My Ward has many young women and men because it is a university town. The subject of polygamy has been discussed and I can assure you that it is universally revolting to these young married women who are also mothers. None of us find it possible to even consider it. These people are not teaching approved doctrine. Non of us are preparing for the end of times. We do prepare for emergencies by keeping supplies on hand for hurricanes, earthquakes, economic downturns. Please discuss your concerns with a member in good standing or a missionary. What you are speaking is poor ignorance.
   In addition, all of the LE in Rexburg and the prosecution team are all members of the church as I understand. 70% of Rexburg are members. Do you think Rob Wood would ever consider polygamy? A man of laws? I understand that Judge Boyce is also a member. He is a man who has devoted himself to the law. I very much doubt that he would even consider breaking it to practice polygamy. Please get you facts straight. Many of the teachings of the church are no longer practiced. Just as things of the early church that were taught are no longer taught because they have become obsolete.

8. I was raised LDS, but no longer believe it as truth. I am not supportive of leadership or doctrine. I’ve been to the temple many times and witnessed many temple sealings. I have spent years studying and teaching church doctrine. I was a missionary. I have done much of the same research you are doing over the last 5 years. Everyone can draw their own conclusions, based on their own perspectives. I have drawn mine. I’m not trying to defend the church in any way.

   I can say, with confidence, that Lori and Chad were never invited to the temple by the official church presidency, or quorum of the 12 apostles, for the second anointing, nor were they sealed in the temple by Moroni, or anyone else who has been appointed a temple sealer. Visions of Glory is a cheap Mormon futuristic fantasy novel that appealed to “like minded” members—those obsessed with near death experiences and the end of times. The majority of members and leaders have never heard of it.

   The second anointing is real. The very few who are “chosen” are faithful married men and their wives—men who have held positions of authority, so are well known to and vetted by top church leadership—think General Authorities, temple presidents, mission presidents. A woman or man would never be invited alone, as marriage is required to obtain the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom.

   Chad and Lori were run of the mill members who held no positions of authority. Based on evidence from the trial, they were living out some romantic futuristic Mormon fictional story in their heads. Based on Lori’s sentencing, she’s still living it. The Mormon church was not behind, or in any way supportive, of what Lori and Chad did. Had their local leaders known the extent of what was going on (adultery), Lori and Chad would’ve been called in for a church disciplinary hearing. It is the ultimate tragedy, for their innocent victims and loved ones, that no one took them seriously and stopped them before anyone was murdered. I am heartbroken, Kresha, that your family crossed paths with such evil. You did not deserve this. 💔

13. The Church in this present day is NOT practicing Polygamy … The FLDS Church however do continue to practice this… I’d love to be proven wrong that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who I’ve been a member of since November 25th 1984 here in Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺

14. Please remember the church would NEVER have allowed a temple marriage to happen in the temple if a couple were already married and sealed to their spouses. What Chad and Lori did went against all teachings of the church and of all churches and societies!

    This has been a horrific tragedy, murderous abuse of Priesthood authority! Everyone involved has been excommunicated. And those still in attendance who played a part should pay for their roles in this matter!

As a disaffected LDS member after 42 years of serious church service…… my husband and I were temple workers, husband a Bishop, on the Stake high counsel, I served as the Stake young women’s pres. etc. I did not even learn about the 2nd Anointing until Mormon Stories covered the subject in the Hans and Bergita Madson interview. There is no way Lori or Chad or any of their friends had a 2nd anointing. Only the highest level authorities get this. None of these people are the kind of people who would ever be chosen for this. They were aspiring to be “chosen” and special so they chose themselves to believe they were set apart and started doing their own strange things and adopting extreme beliefs.
    The mainstream church is NOT behind this nor would they ever condone any actions like this!
    Although I have left the church due to not believing the truth claims anymore, I never saw anything bad or disturbing during my 42 years of intense membership.
    This book is strange and I am concerned (as is the leadership of the church) that people are using it to become obsessed about the end times. LDS Church leaders rarely mention end times at all and they haven’t talked about food storage or preparedness much in 10+ years. I’ve never heard of anyone in a polygamous marriage except if a spouse dies and a man marries again.
    It is easy to read even more conspiracy into Lori and Chad’s fantasy world because it is already beyond human comprehension.
    Yes it is sad that family and church leaders and police didn’t intervene but it is far too easy to be the Monday morning quarterback. Hindsight is always 20/20.
    It is not a crime to be obsessive or act crazy and it’s very hard to get someone as functioning and manipulative as Lori committed for psychiatric care. I believe this is NO ONES fault besides Chad, Lori and Alex. No one could have EVER guessed this could happen! It’s beyond comprehension. I hope that stupid book loses all its popularity and people learn to just live in and love the present and stop looking for some hidden knowledge or end times preparedness. It’s such a waste of time, money and brainpower.

    I do think Lori is a Sociopath and likely had Alex do something to end Joe Ryan’s life. I think Alex might have given his sister a large insulin dose as a mercy killing too. If their dad directed this I hope he feels the weight of starting his kids on this murderous path! We’ll never know but it would explain a lot about Lori and Alex.

41. Kresha I know the love of your family has sparked your interest in this religions cult. Have you thought about looking into being an investigator for law inforcement? I think it's Super Power no joke. It would seem, in Mormon related crimes, you would be one step ahead of the rest. What you are doing has probably saved lives as it is.

43. Chad’s writing sounds like it was written by an eighth grader. All he does is describe a scene. There is no insight or explanation to this “story” as it reads like a report. There is zero creativity which makes it a chore to read. Such juvenile garbage. Chad is such a joke.
